Healthy Choices Day is Wednesday, February 29th!
Healthy Choices Day is an opportunity to educate our Sage Canyon kids about the importance of exercise, making healthy food choices, practicing good dental health, and being sun smart. We have many fun activities planned, including:
- Food Revolution – Jimbos will be coming to our campus to teach every child how to make healthy mac & cheese!
- Recipe Contest – Do you have a healthy recipe that kids will actually eat? Please submit your favorite healthy recipe by Tuesday (2/28) to carolyndunn@san.rr.com. Be sure to include the student’s name. An executive chef from Jimbos will review your recipe and the winner will be announced at the end of Healthy Choices Day!
- Dad’s Club Healthy Lunch – Please bring healthy snacks for you and your kids.
- Rocking Recess – Mr. Tracy will set up his special “Veins and Arteries” game!
- Healthy Curriculum – ESC will be embracing Healthy Choices all week with special technology projects about food pyramids and charting calories and fat in foods, fruit and vegetable printmaking art projects, PE activities that teach about the food pyramids, and creating vegetable musical rhythms in music.
- Roadrunners – In celebration of Healthy Choices Day, Roadrunners will be offering double stamps for all participants on Monday (2/27). Don’t miss out on the fun!
- Healthy Family Dinner Night – Urban Plates located in Del Mar Highlands Town Center will be partnering with Sage Canyon to offer delicious, fresh, and healthy dinners in conjunction with Healthy Choices Day! Bring your family to dinner on February 29th or call in an order and use their convenient curbside pick up. Urban Plates will donate 10% of the proceeds back to Sage Canyon! Look for the dining coupon in your child’s goodie bag or print the attached coupon.
- Healthy Goodie Bags – Students will receive goodie bags with apples from Jimbos, healthy recipes, a coupon for Family Dinner Night, and other healthy tips and samples.
