The Sage Canyon PTA brings you and your children many wonderful events each year and enriches the school in many ways. This is made possible by parent volunteers serving in a variety of volunteer positions.
Volunteering is a great way to meet people and to become involved in your child's school. We have many positions to choose from to compliment your schedule and interests!
Here's how you can get involved:
- Attend the PTA meetings and find out what's currently needed
- Attend the First Day of School Volunteer Sign Ups
Volunteer Sign Ups
If you would like to work in the classroom, become a Room Parent, help
with Playground Partners, join Dads' Club, sign up for the PTA or any other volunteer opportunities -- this is the time. Please join us on the first day of school in the MUR at 8:00 a.m.
Updated TB Test Records
If you plan on working in your child's classroom and/or volunteering in any other capacity that has you interacting with students, you will need to have a ppd skin test. These tests are valid for 4 years. Please furnish a copy of your test results to the school office. If you have been vaccinated for TB the ppd skin test will be positive. If this is the case one of two things is required, either a chest x-ray or a note from physician clearing you of TB, both are also good for 4 years.
District Volunteer Clearance Form
A Clearance Form must be filled out by all volunteers. It is required by the Del Mar Union School District and State of California. It is filed in the office with the Sage Canyon.
Badges
The Del Mar Union School District requires that all employees, volunteers, and other adults must sign-in and sign-out when entering or leaving the campus. All visitors are required to wear a badge signifying the process was completed. In the interest of protecting all of our students we ask that you please send anyone to the office immediately that you see not wearing a badge.
Volunteer Guidelines
In order to promote the goals of the volunteer program and ensure the safety of students, staff, and volunteers, the following guidelines have been established:
- Sign in and out through the school office.
- Wear an identification badge while on campus.
- Respect the authority of teachers, staff and school administrators.
- Dress appropriately and in accordance with school dress code.
- Treat all information regarding student and personnel as confidential.
- Refrain from cell phone use while on campus.
- Participate in all fire drills, earthquake drills and ABC events.
Room Parent
One of the best ways you can support your child's classroom is to volunteer to be the room parent(s). The room parent(s) serves as a liaison between the teacher and the parents and provides essential help to teachers in organizing special activities inside and outside the classroom. Typical responsibilities include the classroom Fall Festival basket, planning holiday celebrations and providing support to the teacher in other areas.
